Sunrise, Winter Solstice at Newgrange

Why was it chosen as site of the week?
It was chosen because:
- Heritage Ireland are presenting a "live" webcast of the winter solstice at Newgrange. The live stream will begin at 8.30 am on 21st and 22nd December 2007.
How can it be used as an educational resource?
If the sky is clear on the days in question, students will be able to see the way the rays of the sun reach the back of the main burial chamber in Newgrange.
Two websites, Mythical Ireland and Knowth.com explain the Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth Monuments in great detail.
