Changing Attitudes towards Irish Language and Culture  back
10. Launch of Anois: 1984

People who try to shape our opinions need an effective communications system to do so. In this news clip from 1984, Pól Ó Gallchóir reports on the publication of a new Irish language newspaper, Anois. Produced as a smart full-colour tabloid, Anois was subsidised by the Government and replaced two other subsidised Irish language newspapers, Inniú and Amárach.

Speaking from the headquarters of Gael Linn, the paper's editor, Dónall Ó Móráin, spoke of his team's confidence that the paper would succeed. Anois continued to be published until 1996.
