What is the site about?
I Was Wondering.org explores the work of 10 remarkable contemporary women scientists in addition to promoting inquiry based learning.
This site accompanies the publication of a ten-volume series of biographies entitled Women's Adventures in Science and is "designed to support kids, especially girls, in their scientific
explorations so they learn the fundamental skills of scientific
investigation and feel empowered to tackle such adventures."

Why was it chosen as site of the week? - The format is excellent as each page includes, audio, videos, games, comics and srapbooks
- A character called Lia narrates the site (you can switch her off)
- Scrapbooks allow you to learn about the scientists life (including childhood) and works
- The language used is engaging, simple and informative and there is a great use of personal photographs to engage you further
- The games are meaningful and relevant for reinforcement learning (not just games for the sake of it) See Astroscope, Make a Robot and Geurilla Quest
- The Science lab section suggests practical activities that promotes scientific investigaton. See the Stretch-O-Meter
- There is an ASK it section that allows you to ask a question and get a response
- A timeline is presented where you can discover the works and thoughts of 25 scientists

How can it be used as an educational resource? This ties in with the primary Science curriculum and may also be relevant to aspects of Junior Cycle Science. It is ideal for individual and discovery based learning.
