What is the site about? This site offers an insights into six civilisations or societies in history, namely, Ancient Greeks, Romans, Anglo-Saxons,
Vikings, Children in Victorian Britain and Children of WW2. All are covered in great detail and includes photos, interactive timelines, quizzes,

Why was it chosen as site of the week?
It was chosen because:
- It's a content-rich, highly graphical and interactive site, appealing to younger audiences
- Each civilisation is covered comprehensively and includes an insight into lifestyle, religion, war, invasions, technology, marriage, toys, pastimes, transport and so on
- The use of timelines is excellent for graphichally contextualising events

- Each section has an investigative or discovery based activity attached to it such as Greek Hero, Dig it Up and Tine Capsules
How can it be used as an educational resource? Given the range of interactive and inquiry based activities, the site in perfect for active learning, project based learning or reinforcement learning. To get you started consider the time capsule on Victorian Britian as a follow up activity to that section as it engages the student in a series of activities that
require close examination of objects in which they must find out who they belong to.
