What is the site about?
It is an international project involving students collecting and handling data about themselves. It is ideal for post primary students.

Why was it chosen as site of the week?
- It is particularly relevant as Wednesday, October 20th, is UN World Statistics Day
- The site is easy to use and has many engaging features such as questionnaires, quizzes and puzzles
- It makes data-collection interesting, fun and rewarding, helping students relate Mathematics and Statistics to their everyday lives
- The site has resources for subjects such as Mathematics (Strands 1,3 & 4), Science, Home Economics, Geography, CSPE, History and ICT
- It has very interesting data results for previous phases of the project, both Irish and International
- It has data tools available and comparisons can be made between different countries
- It reinforces and stimulates curiosity and imagination about such diverse topics as how learners communicate with their friends, what technology they use and if they have pets!
- The Project Maths team have a number of Teaching and Learning Plans for teachers working with Strand 1 of the syllabus, Statistics and Probability.
How can it be used as an educational resource?
As mentioned in the items above, this website can form an integral part of teaching topics in a wide variety of subjects, the main one being Mathematics. It allows the teacher to show students real-life examples of Statistics, Probability and Numbers/Algebra, to name a few. A range of resources on such diverse topics as a balanced diet, electricity, housing and Charles Darwin's census form, provide cross-curricular and co-curricular links.
The quizzes and puzzles provide some fun, whilst also reinforcing memory and numeric skills.
