What is the site about?

The Official GAA site for kids. Find out about its games, players, history and more through interactive games and well presented content.

Why was it chosen as site of the week?

  1. It describes hurling, camogie, gaelic football, ladies football and handball giving a brief history of each and a glimpse at the players.
  2. There's a good mix of graphical, text based and interactive content. The language used in simple and clearly presented in paragraphs.
  3. The History Zone is an excellent interactive timeline of the history of the G.A.A from 500 B.C to 2007.
  4. The Stadium Stats section is also a highly visual and interactive means of exploring facts, photos, and all things associated with Croke Park.
  5. Illustrations are engaging and appropriately used to compliment learning. See Cúl Coach.
  6. Facts and bitesized information on county crests and interesting statistics are included.
  7. It has additional features such as Wallpapers.
  8. There's a Print&Play section that includes wordsearches, mazes, colouring and so on.

How can it be used as an educational resource?

Cúl4Kidz is an ideal site for primary students doing project work relating to G.A.A. and sports in general. It is best used for student paced learning but teachers may like to motivate students by starting with the MegaQuiz. Alternatively the History Zone is an excellent starting point for a study of how GAA has progressed over the years. This would be captivating if projected onto a large screen or an interactive whiteboard.
