What is the site about?

FÍS is a methodology which empowers teachers and children to explore the art of film-making using digital video in the most meaningful way possible.  This site gives you access to interactive online modules, a resource pack and more!

Why was it chosen as site of the week?

  1. The site is inspiring and lets childrens' imagination and creativity take control
  2. It is visually engaging and a great means of active, investigative and project based learning
  3. It shows how the creative use of digital video can be used as an aid to learning and teaching.
  4. It contains a classroom resource pack in both English and Irish
  5. The site also has links to interactive online modules for teachers and students
  6. FÍS interactive is available as both an iPhone and iPad application (App)
  7. It is completely cross-curricular, as the film topic can be anything!
  8. Schools can enter the FÍS Film festival
  9. Films from previous years are available to view
  10. Resources can be used as a guide at Post Primary level
  11. Links to other projects such as Digital Cre8or, FÍS book club and Eurocreator

How can it be used as an educational resource?

FÍS is a methodology which empowers teachers and children to explore the art of film-making using digital video in the most meaningful way possible.  It is the process not the product that makes FÍS special, from storyboarding right through to editing and final production.

FÍS touches every nerve of the primary curriculum and brings alive the immense creativity of children and their ability to apply technology in a collaborative way in film making.
