What is the site about?
Foodlink explores all aspects of food safety and hygiene, and includes fact files, games and practical tips related to these issues.
The site is sponsored by the Food and Drink Federation in co-operation with several government agencies within the UK.
Why was it chosen as site of the week?
It was chosen because:

It is an excellent point of reference on food poisoning, personal hygiene, food storage and food preparation

There are seven main section, the most comprehensive of them being the A-Z of Food Safety which covers approximately 150 issues

Useful tips and advice are offered and include; how to handle raw and cooked foods, what to do if you have pets in the house, and controlling food temperature whether shopping, storing, or cooking

Important and complex information is conveyed in a concise and simple language style

There is a good fun and game section
How can it be used as an educational resource?
This site may be mapped to both the primary and post-primary curriculum.
Primary: SPHE Post Primary: Junior Cycle Science/Home Economics
It is ideal for individual learning scenarios in addition to being a great point of reference for a group study on food safety.
