Why was it chosen as site of the week?

  • Designed to engage a wide range of age groups from 5-7 yr olds to junior cert students
  • Extensive range of lesson plans categorised by age and topic
  • Contains printable worksheets, interactive whiteboard activities, videos, podcasts, games, quizzes and teachers’ notes
  • Features related games and a useful glossary section
  • Visually appealing and interactive simplifying many complex topics
  • Provides students a real life perspective of farming, milling and food production.

How can it be used as an educational resource?

This is an excellent resource for developing and delivering lesson plans. Although aligned to the UK curriculum mainly at post primary level it may be used for teaching aspects of Home Economics, Science, Design Technology and Geography curriculum in an Irish context.

Videos from their "Food for Thought"  channel on You tube (not available in all schools) may also be incorporated into lessons.
