What is the site about?
The Heritage in Schools Scheme promotes outdoor learning and interaction with nature and also involves the enthusiasm of many others for all aspects of our heritage.

Why was it chosen as site of the week?
- The site is visually attractive an appealing
- It encourages active, investigative and project based learning
- A wide selection of resources available such as PDFs, video, audio and images
- Teacher Investigations are given
- All investigations are searchable under the following: Heritage Subject Area, Class Grouping or SESE Curriculum Strand
- Teachers can contribute and submit their own investigations
- Subject areas include Agriculture/Food, Archaeology, Architecture/Built Heritage, Environment, Folklore/Traditions/Customs, Landscape, Museums and Wildlife
- Free publications available for download
- The site contains an 'Experts Blog' and comments can be posted
How can it be used as an educational resource?
The investigations are designed to give background information and activities which teachers can use in their classrooms. The downloadable publications and the Experts Blog provide further resources for learning and teaching.
The Heritage in Schools scheme also offers a panel of heritage specialists who will, at the request of a teacher, visit a primary school to work directly with the children. (cost involved)
