What is the site about?
The site is a virtual tour of the widely acclaimed W.B Yeats exhibition currently running at the National Library of Ireland.

Why was it chosen as site of the week?
It was chosen because:

It is an excellent resource for schools and so comprehensive as it contains the largest collection of Yeats manuscripts in the world

There are at least twenty five areas dedicated to aspects of his life and works to explore

As it is a virtual reality environment it is an amazing opportunity to visit the exhibition when and as often as you like

Navigation is simple and intuitive, you can walk back and forth, turn right and left and zoom into each area of the exhibition

There is a search function if you are looking for something specific

There are many engaging interactive features inlcuding timelines.
How can it be used as an educational resource?
The site ties in mainly with the English syllabus at both Junior and Senior cycle.
An audio reading of the poem "The lake Isle of Inishfree" is available in addition to handwritten poems and typecripts for other poems such as "The Wanderings of Oisin", Easter 1916 and others. Students could conduct a study on the background to and inspiraton for these poems.
It could also be used as a means of exploring primary source material for History especially for the topic of Easter 1916.
