What is the site about?
This site is the 'holding' and link website for many of the US Public Broadcasting Service programs such as Sesame Street, Sid the Science Kid and Hooper. It contains video, music, activities, worksheets and games. Majority of content is available to all web users but some is available only in the US.

Why was it chosen as site of the week?
- The site is visually stunning, engaging and quite intuitive
- It is extremely interactive
- It contains lots of sound and visual stimuli
- It encourages active and investigative learning
- The site is easy to use
- It contains a wealth of resources including games, songs, activity worksheets and videos
- It uses lots of characters which children would be familiar with (such as Hooper, Sid the Science Kid and Sesame Street's Elmo)
- It is suitable for younger primary school pupils
- The site contains a teachers and parents section
- It also uses some Apps for the iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.
How can it be used as an educational resource?
Free registration is required for some sections.
Teachers can use the different sections of this website to re-inforce topics covered in class, such as Science or Geography. There is such a selection of areas to discover, it is helpful to consult the Parents and Teachers section to get ideas about how to integrate materials into learning and teaching.
The music, art and videos are great for getting the pupils involved and will certainly engage them. They can then be encouraged to relate what they have seen and learned to their own particular situation.
