Why was it chosen as site of the week?

The site was chosen because:
  • Engaging cartoon style animations involving four Taste Buds characters are used
  • The site comprises eight "sessions" or lessons which include quizzes, interactive games and videos. See the Dancethon and The Big Match as examples
  • Each session contains a key message, extension activities and homework suggestions
  • The Teacher’s Notes has excellent details on how to use each session and how they relate to the curriculum
  • It includes real life food production videos.

How can it be used as an educational resource?

Taste Buds consist of eight sessions, each one taking 30-40 minutes to complete. This will ideally fit into the SPHE curriculum and is suitable for use on an IWB. The quizzes and games are best used for reinforcement learning on an individual basis.

The following is an overview of where each session fits into the SPHE curriculum.
