A century ago the Titanic collided with an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank. Mapping travelers’ hometowns reveals the immigrant status of most third-class passengers, who also suffered the highest fatality rate.

Suggestions for use: Will display well on class computer. Visually engaging. Select the various classes and see where the passengers came from and if they survived. Could accompany a discussion on why more 1st class passengers survived than did other class passengers. Also discuss why there were so many Irish passengers in 3rd class. Students could also try and identify the home town of famous passengers.
