How WW1 Impacted on Our Local Area

Essay looking at how the first World War imacted on a rural area in Co Waterford. Focuses on the local people who were involved in the war and in particular on the role of horses in that war. Many horses from this area of Co Waterford were sold to the army and saw action at the Western Front.
This essay was a winning entry from Kilrossanty NS in the ‘Decade of Centenaries’ All-Island Schools History Competition 2014 organised jointly by the Departments of Education in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

  • use appropriate timelines

Suggestions for use: Can be used as an example of student work. Also provides an excelent example of historical research by students of events in their locality.
