Suggestions for use: As the twitter conversation progressed, a need was highlighted. Practice of handwriting cannot be left up to the English teacher alone. In this case, the English teacher allowed the pupil to sit their exams using an iPad so that assessment was accurately depicting the pupils ability. Secondly, the teacher emailed all the corresponding teachers who work with the pupil to gather ideas and strategies collectively. The form teacher had an essential role as the form teacher checks in with the student daily on a 10 minute basis. Ultimately, for handwriting to improve, everyone in the pupils educational environment needs to sing off the same hymn sheet and become advocates for the pupil to become persistent with the challenge they are facing. Directly instruct students to be aware of using case sensitives. Practice writing letters using guided worksheets. Try using different size lined paper or coloured paper. Practice writing letters in a multi-sensory environment to relieve the monotonous factor.
