Reading Bear is a fun way to learn to read. The resource has over 1,200 vocabulary items and 50 presentations covering all the main phonics rules. All free and nonprofit! Videos to guide pupils in saying words with visual connections to help pupils remember the words and see the words meaning. The resource also has quiz options, for pupils to assess pupils. Their motto is "We sound it out —you learn to read."

This resource should enable a child to:

  • experience, recognise and observe simple commands
  • hear, repeat and elaborate words, phrases and sentences modelled by the teacher

Suggestions for use: Use interactive video animations within your lesson by projecting onto whiteboard. Play the animation, highlight the emphasis on each pronunciation of each letter in the word. Allow the pupils to practice saying the words slowly emphasizing each letter. Test afterwards to check pupils memory and ability to sound out words one after each other. Complete the quiz options.
