Suggestions for use: This clip could be used at the beginning of a lesson on the character of Felix in 'Once'. Teachers could show the clip, with particular emphasis on Gleitzman's discussion of the character of Felix in the second question of the clip, where Gleitzman refers to Felix's optimism in spite of the grim situation in which he finds himself. Teachers could ask students to identify in small groups examples of Felix's optimism in the novel and give feedback to the class.
