History of Human Rights: Video

Added: 28 Jun 2018 Contributor: Donal Mc Carthy Resource type: Audio / Video

A fantastically animated ten minute video on the history of human rights from ancient to modern times. I've used this video to introduce the topic many times and students always respond well to it.

How it maps to the curriculum

SC
Politics & Society

Strand: 6. Human Rights+Responsibilities: Wider World

Strand unit: 1. Rights in Wider World

Suggestions for use: I use this at the very beginning of teaching about the legal system and human rights. I ask students to take down what they feel are the key markers and legal documents in the development of human rights throughout history.
