Department of Justice and Equality along with An Garda Síochána have a fireworks information notice to advice the general public of the dangers and illegality of fireworks.

Fireworks are not only dangerous, there are severe criminal penalties that apply:

  • Igniting an illegal firework in any place- Up to 10,000 euro fine & 5 years imprisonment.
  • Throwing an ignited firework at a person or property - Up to 10, 000 euro fine & 5 years imprisonment.
  • Possession of illegal fireworks with intent to sell or supply - Up to 10,000 euro fine & 5 years imprisonment.
