International Literacy Day

  • Different font

Friday, 8 September 2023

This is a UN day which falls on September 8th each year and the aim of the day is to to raise concern and awareness for literacy issues around the world.

NALA - the National Adult Literacy Agency has been responsible for making sure people with literacy difficulties can fully take part in society and have access to the tuition they need.

The website Help My Kid Learn is supported by the Department of Education as part of the actions outlined in the national strategy to improve literacy and numeracy among young people. It recognises that parents who are engaged in their child’s learning have a significant positive impact on a child’s educational achievement, especially in literacy and numeracy.
