World Poetry Day

Monday, 21 March 2022

The goal of world poetry day is to increase awareness of the importance of poetry in expressing the innermost values of diverse cultures. The day is an official UNESCO day of observation. One of the aims of the day is to promote the importance of poetry in oral expression.

In the classroom: Make a special effort to read and study one particular poem. Get students to write and recite their own poems on a specific topic. Consider getting a local writer to come to the school to talk about poetry or writing.
