World Day Against Human Trafficking

Monday, 30 July 2018

Slavery is not something confined to the history books. Many people live in slavery today.

July 30th is a day dedicated by the United Nations to highlight the plight of victims - estimated to be as many as 2.5million people - of modern-day slavery. Every country in the world is affected by human trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims.

In the classroom: Learn more about slavery through Encyclopaedia Britannica. What do we mean by 'modern slavery'?
