The official Roald Dahl Day takes place every year on the 13th September.

Roald Dahl:

(September 13, 1916 - November 23, 1990)

Pupils will know such books as James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Machine, The Magic Finger, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Danny and the Champion of the world, The Twits, Georges Marvellous Medicine, The Witches or the BFG.

Charlie and the Chocolate Machine:

“So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books.” 

The Twits:

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” 

The BFG:

“Giants isn't eating each other either, the BFG said. Nor is giants killing each other. Giants is not very lovely, but they is not killing each other. Nor is crockadowndillies killing other crockadowndillies. Nor is pussy-cats killing pussy-cats.

'They kill mice,' Sophie said.

'Ah, but they is not killing their own kind,' the BFG said. 'Human beans is the only animals that is killing their own kind.'

Fantastic Mr Fox:

“I think I have this thing where everybody has to think I'm the greatest.And if they aren't completely knocked out and dazzled and slightly intimidated by me, I don't feel good about myself.” 

Matilda:
