Congratulations to Abbeyleix South National School for winning Scoilnet's Star Site award!
Visitors to the school's website are greeted with a high resolution photo of their very modern school building. The homepage contains an embedded map with the school's address as well as an embedded calendar that highlights important dates for pupils, parents and staff. The homepage also contains images of pupils being active around the school, an embedded video and an image of the school's Buddy Bench!
There are site navigation tabs at the top of the homepage. The first tab contains information about the school such as the school newsletter, achievements and useful links (we always happy to see Scoilnet included in useful links!). The South School Gazette tab showcases pupil's art, poetry and creative works in a blog style format. Users can scroll back through the entries to see previous posts.
The School Blog tab contains a link to an external site that hosts the school's blog. The blog features images, links and descriptions of school events such as Seachtain na Gaeilge, World Book Day, Typing Poetry and Art Lessons
Abbeyleix South National School's site has a nice simple design with an easy to navigate layout and is an excellent point of contact between parents, pupils and the school. Well done on winning Scoilnet's Star Site Award!
