Congratulations to St Mary's of Upper Dorset Street, Dublin 7 for winning the final Scoilnet's Star Site award for this school year!
St Mary's website has a very simple layout with an excellent use of colour that is very easy to navigate. Visitors to the site are greeted with a welcome message and can see all the latest news to the right of the homepage. There is a navigation bar across the top of the homepage contain links to the About Us, Learning and Gallery pages. An excellent feature of this homepage is an embedded video showing when RTÉ's News2Day featured the school's Young Interpreters in one of their news reports on the school's International Day. Another excellent feature of the homepage is the Translate tab at the bottom of the page which offers the option to translate the website into over one hundred languages making the school's website extremely accessible.
The school's website also features information for visitors and parents in the About Us tab such as the school's ethos, information on the school's pupils, the community and the Board of Management. There is also an extensive Parent's Information section which provides information on enrolment, child protection, staying safe online and term dates. The Learning section of the website details the different teams within the school such as Green Schools, Young Interpreters and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.
An excellent feature of this site is Record Your Child's Absence. This is a page where parents can fill out a form and explain their child's absence from school. Another excellent feature of this website, and one that Scoilnet hasn't seen before, is the Say Thank You... section. Visitors to the website can fill out a form with a brief message thanking someone in the school community.
St Mary's Primary School's website is well maintained and kept up to date and reflects the pride that the pupils, teachers and parents take in the school. Congratulations on winning Scoilnet's Star Site award!
