This is a presentation about the history of the Six Nations Rugby Championship. No knowledge of the Six Nations Rugby Championship is required to use this presentation in the classroom. While it is predominately a history presentation there is integration with other subjects. This can be a child led/peer led activity, the teacher requires little to no prior knowledge on the topic, they can just facilitate the lesson.

History/English/Numeracy – Print slide 9 and give a copy to each group/pairs. Ask them to match what year they think each event happened. They are not in the correct order on slide 9 but they are in slide 10 when the class can check their answers.

English - Oral Language – there are a number of slides in which questions are asked of the class. On these slides the class are asked to discuss the questions either as a whole class, in groups or pairs. The third and final slide can be completed using a KWL chart. KWL charts can be downloaded here (https://www.scoilnet.ie/search/resource/entity/show/Lre/19245/) or a whole class KWL chart can be written on the whiteboard or a large piece of paper. A KWL Chart is K - what they know and the W - What they want to learn.
Another oral language activity can be completed using slide 7 also. The teacher can ask the class how does the 1887 Rugby Team look different to Ireland’s current rugby team?
