An animation which clearly illustrates how big our universe is by zooming into the non-observable living things such as microbes, protons, neutrons to zooming out to the large extent of our universe. The visual scale is familiar to students as it uses everyday objects as a starting point so that students can make comparisons between one power of ten and another.
Strand: 02. Earth and Space
Strand unit: 02. Scientific Model: Orgin of the Universe
Suggestions for use: Use the animation to introduce the scale of our universe. Afterwards, individual celestial objects can be explored and studied. Students can click on various objects to read about their description.
