This strand enables students to build further on skills of communication as well as those of thinking and reasoning. They learn more about responsibilities associated with dog ownership and of the assistance dogs provide in the community. This is a link to a YouTube video where a lady reads the story: Not afraid of Dogs! It would be a good idea to purchase the book to allow the student to see the illustrations better. This is a story about a young boy who says he's not afraid of dogs, just doesn't like them. It works well for strand 4 in caring for an animal level 2 short course. It links in nicely to communication and literacy also.

This is primarily a list of agency website who offer support to dog owners. It has 2 questions as well which relate to finding out who the local vet is, and how much it costs to get a dog license. The students can link this to comm & Lit by researching the information online.
