Folk Dance

Folk dance is an important element of the dance strand of the PE curriculum.  The PDST Primary PE team have developed and collated video demonstrations and written descriptions and links to accompanying music for a selection of folk dances across class levels.

Dance steps

Many folk dance contain specific dance steps which can be taught in advance.  Remember to keep the emphasis on enjoyment and support all pupils to participate in the dance even if they have not yet mastered the steps in question. Use the videos below to help pupils learn 3 common steps.
