Muhammad Ali Rememberance

https://www.scoilnet.ieuploads/resources/16923/16600.pptx Added: 06 Jun 2016 Contributor: Aoife McDonnell Resource type: Guide/notes / Audio / Video / Lesson Plan

A PowerPoint presentation to remember the great Muhammad Ali. The impact a person can have on the world is the greatest currency there is. This PPT guides the student through the history of Muhammad Ali, who he was, why he is famous, words to describe his character and metaphors he used in his speech. The plenary involves students piecing together the information they have gathered by writing a news article about Muhammad Ali. It would be a great idea for teachers to bring in news paper articles for students to read seeing as many have been written over the weekend in his honor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7iPACdA1HQ Added: 06 Jun 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Audio / Video

A nice video clip on Muhammad Ali. He explains a life recipe. In the clip, Ali says:

I would like for them to say, he took a few cups of love. He took one tablespoon of patience, one tablespoon of generosity, one pint of kindness; he took one quart of laughter, one piece of concern, and then he mixed willingness with happiness. He added lots of faith, and he stirred it up well. Then he spread it and expanded it over a lifetime. And he served each and every deserving person he met.

Muhammad Ali Remembrance : What I will do When I Retire

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGPyyUoTR78 Added: 06 Jun 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Audio / Video

Youtube clip on Muhammad Ali. An excellent response on what he will do when he retires. Depicts the word "infinity" with an excellent metaphor! A child asked him what he'd do when he retired, and after initially having some fun and claiming that sleep was all that was on his mind, he seriously addressed the question.

"No, when I retire from boxing I really don't know, I want to say something right there, this might make you all think," he said.

"Life is not really long, let's say the average person is 30 years old. If you're 30 years old you're not but about seven years old. Add up all the seven, eight, nine hours you slept for 30 years, out of 30 years add up all the nights when you went to bed and this morning don't remember a thing.

"You've been unconscious for about eight years if you're 30 years old. You've slept for about eight years.

"How much travelling have you done in 30 years? From the television station to home to another country to another city to school to church. You've probably spent two years of your life just going back and forth to where you're going.

"So there's eight years of sleeping and two years of travelling, that's 30 years out of your life before you accomplish anything."

He continues on to say even more but we'll let you listen to what he says, it's better that way.
