Suggestions for use: This is a scaffolded assignment that can be taught over two class periods. The first class period can be used to ensure student understanding of the format of the newspaper report and the conventions of the genre. The planning templates on the worksheet are designed to help with this. For homework, students could complete their first draft of the newspaper report. The second class period can be devoted to peer assessment of their first draft and the writing of a second draft of the report.
