Students should be encouraged to plan their daily eating habits around the food pyramid to achieve a healthy, balanced diet. Lesson idea: Print out the old pyramid and new pyramid for students to compare and evaluate the changes happening in the food pyramid for their school.

Suggestions for use: Use the resources as a means of awareness and informing students of the new food pyramid. The daily meal plans are an excellent resource for students to examine. Perhaps set up a rotation station where students have time to discuss and read the individual meal plans. After the rotation station activity, students should be given time to design their own meal plans using the new food pyramid.
