Beyond the Classroom:

The physically literate child can be developed by a wide range of different people and environments. Through worthwhile and beneficial experiences at school, at home and in the community children are given the ability, the confidence and the motivation to participate in physical activity now and throughout their lives.

Where progress on this journey is achieved for each pupil, there is the potential for a most valuable legacy of a positive attitude to physical activity that can last a lifetime and add significantly to quality of life.

Home School Link Letters

Home school link letters can be used by teachers to help engage parents in their child's physical literacy journey. Learning undertaken within physical education class can be consolidated and enhanced outside of school through the use of these letters.
Skill Overview Walking Running Hopping
Skipping Jumping for Height Jumping for Distance Dodging

Take Home Activities

Take Home Activities enable pupils to reflect on and consolidate their learning outside of the PE lesson. Each PE activity is accompanied by a corresponding Take Home Activity that can be completed in the home or in the pupil’s PE journal. This allows pupils to share their learning with others outside of the PE lesson, and to create additional opportunities to engage in physical activities in their daily life.
