School level

A Sit Spot is a place outside in the school grounds where pupils slow down and sit still to observe their surroundings. Over the course of the day or year, pupils return to the same Sit Spot and record what has stayed the same and what has changed. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on the experience, by discussing the changes they observed. This activity could be used by very high risk pupils to develop the same skills as their peers.

Pupils can record their observations in a digital or physical Outdoor Learning Journal. Sample prompts for Outdoor Learning Journals in English and Irish can be found here.

The PDST Primary STEM issue an e-Bulletin STEM Smaointe and regular updates regarding upcoming CPD events via email. If you would like to subscribe please click here.

In addition to this we are delighted to offer you bespoke school support, where a skilled advisor will provide school support during and after school hours. If you wish to apply for school support please click here.

Finally, our webinar series STEM sa Bhaile and STEM ar Scoil are available here. The next webinar will run on Tuesday 10th November and you can register here.

Have fun and please feel free to share photos with us on Twitter tagging @PDSTPrimarySTEM and @ScoilnetPrimary. We’d love to see how your pupils enjoyed Science Week!
