Day of Democracy

  • Acropolis

Friday, 15 September 2017

The UN has named September 15th as the International Day of Democracy with a view to promoting the principles of democracy. Of course there is no single form of democracy but it generally refers to a value whereby people may express their will in terms of politics and government.

In the classroom: The word democracy has its origins in Ancient Greek. Learn more about the Ancient Greece though our Scoilnet collection.
