World Habitat Day

Monday, 2 October 2023

The United Nations designated the first Monday in October every year as World Habitat Day "to reflect on the state of human settlements and the basic right to adequate shelter for all". The Day is also intended "to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat"

In the classroom: Get the class to reflect on a range of issues relating to the places in which people live. Consider the plight of refugees, the growing size of cities, the need for water.
