St Lucia Day

Tuesday, 12 December 2023

Major day in Sweden even though it is not a public holiday. The event is marked by girls dressing in white dresses and taking part in a candlelight procession. Schools normally have their own St. Lucias and some town and villages also choose a girl to play St. Lucia in a procession where carols are sung. It is one of the most unique of swedish customs and traditions.
