National Day of Switzerland

Tuesday, 1 August 2017

This day owes its origins to a date in 1291 when three of the Swiss cantons decided to form a confederation that began the process of forming a country - Switzerland. The day is celebrated each year with paper lantern parades, bonfires, hanging strings of Swiss flags and fireworks.
