Montserrat

Montserrat and Saint Patrick

Montserrat is the only other country in the world in which St Patrick's Day is a public holiday. It is a small island in the Caribbean. In the 1630's Irish-Catholics fled persecution in St Kitts. Since then the island has been steeped in Irish heritage.

Use the map on the left to explore Montserrat.

  • Zoom in and out, where is Montserrat in the world? Is it far from Ireland?
  • Change the viewing with the small green box on the left. What information does this give us about Montserrat? Is it a hilly or flat place? Are there many rivers or lakes?
  • What else can we learn about Montserrat from the maps?
