Monkstown Educate Together N S

Our Generation's Proclamations

Poblacht Na H Eireann
The Provisional Government of the Irish Republic to the People of Ireland

We, the pupils of Monkstown Educate Together National School (METNS), will forever celebrate and honour the work our ancestors did to make our country the beautiful and prosperous place it is today. Together we have a vision of the Ireland of 2116. This is our proclamation.

D’ibrigh muid le chéile chun an forógra seo a chur le chéile agus tá muid go léir an-bhródúil as. Bain taitneamh as é seo a léamh!

Junior Infants:

Junior Infants believe that all the people in Ireland should have safe places to live and play, and that our bodies and feelings should be kept safe too because our safety is very important.

Senior Infants:

Senior Infants believe that we must always be kind to each other, and always use kind words, kind hands and kind feet.

We also believe that all children have the right to a home, to be looked after, to have a safe place to play, to go to school and most importantly, to be happy.

1st Class:

1st Class believe that homeless people in Ireland deserve to have a place where they can sleep, eat, drink and be loved.

We also believe that we should keep Ireland ‘green’ by reducing, reusing and recycling, so that all humans, animals and plants may live happily together.

2nd Class:

We, the pupils of 2nd Class, believe that we should continue to learn Irish at school, to use the language as often as we can, and to help our younger brothers, sisters or cousins with their Irish homework.

We also believe that all animals are entitled to live in a habitat which, as closely as possible, resembles their natural habitat, and that they should be treated with respect and dignity.

3rd Class:

3rd Class want to live in a country where there is no pollution and no harm to our environment, so that we can breathe in healthy fresh air, have clean waters, protect our wonderful wildlife and surroundings, and feel responsible for taking care of our beautiful little island.

We also believe that the people of Ireland have the right to live a happy and fulfilling life in an environment that respects difference and celebrates diversity.

4th Class:

4th Class believe that the people of Ireland should have access to free health care and that the ability to pay should not determine the standard of care we receive.

We also believe that we, the people of Ireland, owe a high standard of care to the sick people in hospitals and nursing homes throughout the country.

5th Class:

We, the citizens of 5th Class proclaim that everyone in Ireland shall be given equal rights no matter what their differences, and regardless of their colour, gender, religion, race, ability or sexuality.

We also proclaim that prejudice and discrimination will be things of the past and should no longer exist in a civilised republic like ours.  No one will be prejudged on their appearance, ability, race, religion, sexuality, on how much money they have or on where they live.  Our differences will be respected.

6th Class:

We, the pupils of 6th Class, believe that bullying destroys lives. It is completely unacceptable. We declare that the citizens of our new state will be protected from bullying.

We also believe that we have a responsibility as the citizens of this beautiful country, to educate people not to become bullies.

We, the pupils and staff of METNS, believe that all people should have equal rights and opportunities in Ireland regardless of race, gender, class, religion.
