A century on from the 1916 Rising, a lot has changed, but more is needed and for the teachers and pupils of Kildimo NS, we have a dream for peace, justice and humanity for all. We remember the line in the original 1916 Proclamation which read, “cherishing all the children of the nation equally". May all the children who lost their lives be remembered, but not just children, adults too, who died fighting for our now independent country.
In the future, we, the citizens of Ireland would like to solve the issue of homelessness in our country. We should provide shelter for every person as nobody deserves to not have a place they can call home. Ireland should preserve the Irish language and promote it by teaching people how to speak it more fluently, teaching them how to read and write and have more fun learning the language. ‘Gaeilge’, our greatest gift from our ancestors needs to be kept alive! As the proverb goes, “Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam”.
We dream and hope that the health system will improve and that we will employ more nurses, doctors and surgeons. As a result, there will be fewer people in pain on trolleys. If possible, we would love scientists to find cures for terrible diseases such as cancer. The people of Ireland believe we need to prevent urbanisation in our beautiful country land. We hope we can keep our countryside clean and free of litter and preserve it, not losing too much of it to new buildings and projects. On the other hand, we need to go with the times and have more modern ideas. We need to keep our cities constantly growing and take on new concepts.
Being from a community steeped in GAA, we believe the GAA should become a professional sport with players getting paid and having a chance to play with the “cream of the crop”, representing their national team all around the world.
To the citizens of Ireland, may we all prosper and flourish in every way and let Ireland have peace and prosperity throughout the country.
The following people from our school community worked on producing our New Proclamation.
5th and 6th class both came up with their own Proclamations and this is the 6th class one uploaded.
