Proclamation for a New Generation
Irishmen, Irishwomen and Irish children: We in St Patrick’s NS Clonbullogue recognise that the work to build a fair and democratic Ireland which started in 1916 continues to the present day and beyond. We know that our generation will have a major contribution to play as the Republic of Ireland moves into its second century of independence.
We hope to see an Ireland where the right of everyone to a job and a home is upheld. We want a society where there are equal opportunities for all, whether rich or poor, and regardless of skin colour, gender or religion. We want our hospitals to have enough room and medical staff to look after all sick people. We wish for an Ireland where everyone has the chance to eat healthily and to get enough exercise. We hope for a country where there is adequate time for all to have fun and enjoyment, adults and children alike.
These are our wishes as we look ahead at the next hundred years in Ireland. We hope to see them in our generation.
The following people from our school community worked on producing our New Proclamation.
