War Horse - Educational Resources

Series of resources covering various aspects of the role played by horses during World War I.

How it maps to the curriculum

5-6
SESE History

Strand: Eras of Change & Conflict

Strand unit: World War I

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • become familiar with aspects of these periods
  • examine and become familiar with evidence which informs us about the lives of people in the periods studied, their thoughts and concerns, especially evidence which may be found locally
  • record the place of peoples and events on appropriate timelines

Suggestions for use: Get students to think about the role of horses in the War. This resource could also be used as a good introductory resource for WW1.

  • It's an excellent source of primary and secondary source material such as photos, videos, and audio interviews, particularly in the theatres of war section
