Scoilnet Websites

Scoilnet actively promotes the integration of ICT in teaching and learning and as a result we have historically been involved in developing a number of websites with specific relevance to the Irish curriculum. This has been done in conjunction with professional development and curriculum support services, as well as relevant external organisations.

Here is a list of the websites we are involved with and/or manage:

  • Irish Flag
    Presents 'stories' and a 'timeline' around the historical evolution of the Irish tricolour flag and its acceptance as the flag of the Irish state.
  • French.ie 
    Providing support for the French Junior and Senior Cycle curriculum. Launched in 2007, revised in 2012.
  • German.ie 
    Providing support for the German Junior and Senior Cycle curriculum. Launched in 2009.
  • Scoilnet Maps 
    Interactive mapping tool featuring detailed Ordnance Survey Ireland maps, world maps, GIS data layers. Launched in 2008, revised in 2013.
  • CensusAtSchool 
    An international project promoting statistical literacy, this website facilitates the collecting and disseminating of real data for use by teachers and students in class. Launched in 2009.
  • Webwise 
    Internet safety awareness resources for teachers, students and parents.
  • Science Hooks 
    Science Hooks is an initiative of NUI Galway and provides science educators with a collection of videos that capture novel and engaging aspects of Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Scoilnet implemented and supports the Science Hooks website. Launched in 2012.
  • Imagebank 
    Providing a photo library where people can access and share photos for educational use. Launched in 2007. [Note: this is now an archived website]
  • I Am An Artist 
    Supporting Visual Arts in the primary curriculum. Launched in 2005. [Note: this is now an archived website]
  • Sci- Spy 
    A Science initiative aimed at primary students in 5th and 6th class. Launched in 2004.  [Note: this is now an archived website]
  • Science Unleashed 
    Videos, games, weblinks and quizzes mapped to the Junior Cycle Science curriculum. Launched in 2004.  [Note: this is now an archived website]
  • Fón Foghlaim ón Nuatheicneoleolaíocht 
    Supporting learning, teaching and assessment of Irish at Junior Cycle. Launched in 2007. [Note: this is now an archived website]

Registering for a Scoilnet Account – your first step to contributing and sharing

What you need...

To register for a Scoilnet Account you will need to have a Teaching Council number and a roll number for your school in Ireland.

If you already have a Scoilnet Account then you can sign in here.

The benefits...

A Scoilnet account will allow you to upload your resources or weblinks to Scoilnet as well as enabling you to share and add resources to a favourites listing. Users who have a Scoilnet Account will also be able to fully access Scoilnet Maps and Census@School from home.
