Spark curiosity!

Tech Week (28 March - 03 April)

Tech Week have opened entries for the Curiosity Challenge 2020.

Tech Week is Ireland’s festival dedicated to celebrating tech careers, the rewarding opportunities in the sector, advances in technology, and digital skills. According to the European Commission, Ireland has 12,000 unfilled ICT jobs. Currently there are not enough students coming out with the skills to match the growing Irish economy.

Now in its 7th year, Tech Week will celebrate Irish technology and digital skills by providing a platform for young people and the general public to engage with tech.

The Tech Week Curiosity Challenge is designed to unpack computational thinking and deliver a fun activity where students will develop their team work, problem solving, creativity, empathy and communication skills.
Divide your class into groups of 3 and ask them the question:

“What would you invent using technology to help your community?”

Print out the worksheet, get your group to work through each stage using the Design Process to come up with an invention that they will present to their peers.

Submit entries by uploading completed worksheets or pictures of group presentations on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram tagging @techweekirl and using the hashtags #TechWeek2020 #TechWeekIRL.

Alternatively if you prefer, you can submit completed challenges via email to info@techweek.ie.
Competition closes on April 06.  All submissions received by April 06 will be in with a chance of winning an external hands on tech workshop for your class.

This challenge is adaptable to the age and abilities of your group!
