Ideas for Bug Recycle Craft in Poster Format

Added: 06 May 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Tool

A collection of crafty posters to hang around the classroom with the aim to inspire students to think creatively about environmental care, recycling and human impact on the world around us. These activities can be linked to the resource ""

How it maps to the curriculum

5-6
SESE Geography

Strand: Environ. Awareness & Care

Strand unit: Caring for the environment

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • come to appreciate individual, community and national responsibility for environmental care
  • examine a number of ways in which local and other environments could be improved or enhanced

Suggestions for use: These posters can provide an excellent transition between your Geography and Art lesson. Place students in groups. Provide groups with clean safe rubbish on their tables and craft supplies. Get groups to nominate an "idea creator". The "idea creator" will zoom around the room taking details and ideas from the posters. The main job of the "idea creator" is to feed back the information on the posters to their group. Once the "idea creator" has communicated all their evidence gathering, the group can then, only then, begin designing and negotiating their design. (You can state a rule: that they must include one idea from an aspect given on these posters) Even though it is a craft lesson, ensure the emphasis remains on the importance of recycling and re-using.
