Print and laminate sheets into cards for students to analyse the information/data on the back of each planet card.

Suggestions for use: This resource relates to the new Junior Cert Science curriculum. Starter task: Ask students to state the meaning of classification. - Relate to relationships between objects. Task 1: Brainstorm on the board using students ideas; what methods we have for representing correlations between objects. (Bar chart, Pie chart, Line ...etc) In groups, ask students collect data about the students in the class and represent this data on a their chosen charts. Students should stick their charts on the walls. Allow time for students to walk around and view other groups ideas. Task 2: Give each group the set of laminated cards given. (link for cards; need to laminate and cut). Ask each group to decide on a correlation between the planets and to represent the correlation visually. Once complete, students stick their posters on the walls around the room. Allow time for class to walk around and review the posters/ take pictures of their work for portfolio. Plenary: Put the teacher correlation on the board (image ->) and ask students to identify the what is being classified and what is the relationship being represented.
