Prizewinning student project from the All-Island History Competition 2016 that explores the case of Thomas Whelan who was executed following events on Bloody Sunday 1920. The paper details the prosecution and defence cases and recounts the story of the subsequent execution. Details are also give about the reaction to the execution in Whelan's home town of Clifden where two RIC officers were killed and retaliation by the Black and Tans led to the burning of the town.
