It's Your Move - Operation Transformation Dance Routines

Added: 20 Jun 2016 Contributor: Scoilnet Resource type: Audio / Video / Reference

Operation Transformation inspired many schools to get involved in learning their fun dance routines this year (2016). Schools that send in their video performance appeared on RTE Operational Transformation programme. Each week a new sequence to the dance routine was given for schools to practice. The collection is now available through this link.

Content objective:
This resource should enable a child to:

  • create and perform a more complex range of movements
  • create, practise and perform longer and more complex dances with clear dance forms
  • develop work with a group

Suggestions for use: The Operation Transformation Dance Videos should be used in teaching the pupils how to perform the routines. Bring class to an open space / gym/ hall/ outdoors. Learn routine as a class by watching the video, stopping the video and practicing the video through repetition. Alternatively, slit the class into groups. Provide each group with an iPod. Allow students to learn the dance in teams. Teams can then perform to class. Class can give each group constructive feedback. Join class together at the end of lesson to practice as a class group.
